NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Three people suspected of committing multiple thefts at regional Ulta Beauty stores were apprehended in Naperville on Wednesday, following a coordinated sting operation by local police.
According to Naperville Police reports, it began around 2 p.m. Wednesday, when officers acting on a tip from nearby law enforcement, spotted a black Mercedes linked to earlier thefts outside the Ulta Beauty on the 2700 block of Aurora Avenue. Officers reportedly observed three suspects, later identified as Jayla M. Alston, 20, Skylar L. Escoe, 19, and Darielle L. Wrice, 19, alighting from the car and entering the store.
A short time later the trio was allegedly seen exiting with two baskets of purportedly stolen goods. The suspects were cornered, and during the arrest, Wrice, reportedly attempted to escape, striking a police vehicle with the Mercedes. She was taken into custody a short time later.
All three now face two counts of felony retail theft and one of felony burglary. Wrice has additional charges for attempting to damage government property and driving without a valid license. All three were granted pre-trial release, the investigation remains ongoing, with potential additional charges pending as police probe their possible ties to other recent retail thefts.
