Nashville, TN – An arrest has been made in the January 4 killing of a food delivery driver who was shot while traveling along Murfreesboro Pike near a nightclub, Metro Nashville Police confirmed this weekend.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Atirah Hogan, 21, was arrested following tips from the community identifying her as the suspected shooter in the early-morning homicide of David Valentine Jr., 33. Investigators say Valentine was working as a food delivery driver at the time of the shooting.
Police say the shooting occurred as Valentine and a female friend were traveling inbound on Murfreesboro Pike near a nightclub in South Nashville. Investigators allege Hogan and her friends had been inside the nightclub earlier that night but were kicked out prior to the shooting.
According to police, Hogan allegedly fired multiple shots from a vehicle as the group was leaving the area. Valentine was struck by one of the rounds and later died from his injuries.
On Friday, Metro Police released surveillance images from the nightclub in hopes of identifying those involved. The department says the images generated multiple Crime Stoppers tips, which ultimately led to Hogan’s arrest.
Hogan is now charged with criminal homicide and felony reckless endangerment, according to police. She is currently being held in jail in lieu of $520,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not indicated whether additional arrests are expected.
Anyone with further information related to the shooting is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers or Metro Nashville Police.
