Davidson County, NC – A 73-year-old man was found dead Tuesday evening following what investigators believe was a fatal dog attack in the Silver Valley community near Thomasville, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 7:30 p.m. on November 18, 2025, to a home on Jeanette Lane, where they discovered the victim already deceased. Investigators said the man appeared to have suffered injuries consistent with an attack by a large pack of canines.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division and members of the Davidson County Animal Control Division responded to the scene and launched a full investigation into the incident. Authorities said the threat to the community has since been reduced but encouraged residents to report any concerns involving animals to (336) 249-0131 or Lieutenant Porter at (336) 242-2845.

Detective Swaim is leading the ongoing investigation and can be reached at (336) 242-2134 for anyone with additional information.
Officials confirmed that criminal charges are expected as the investigation continues. No further details have been released at this time.
