Davidson County, NC – A Thomasville man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting sheriff’s deputies during a Friday night high school game, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies assigned as off-duty security at Oak Grove High School’s Junior Varsity game on October 16, 2025, intervened when an irate parent, identified as Mose Jones of Thomasville, reportedly began yelling obscenities toward players and parents after being contacted about a possible injury to his child.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jones allegedly escalated the situation by grabbing one of the deputies after being told to leave the facility. Deputies said he refused repeated requests to stop yelling and continued to act disorderly. When officers attempted to escort him away, Jones allegedly grabbed the deputy again, prompting an arrest attempt.

Authorities say Jones resisted, leading to a brief struggle before he was taken to the ground and handcuffed. One deputy reportedly suffered abrasions to his arms and legs, while Jones complained of a minor foot injury and was evaluated at a local hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office said Jones was booked into the Davidson County Jail on charges of Assault on a Government Official, Disorderly Conduct, and Resist, Obstruct, and/or Delay Arrest. He also faced a separate pre-trial release issue from an earlier incident.

Officials noted that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
