Davidson County, NC – A routine traffic stop in Davidson County earlier this month led to a drug arrest after deputies reportedly discovered methamphetamine and fentanyl inside a vehicle.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, the stop occurred on January 4, 2026, when patrol deputies pulled over a 2008 Acura sedan on NC Highway 109 near Wallburg Road for traffic violations. During the stop, deputies said they found both methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The driver, identified as 45-year-old Michael Loeser, was arrested and charged with possession of Schedule I (fentanyl), possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said Loeser was taken before a magistrate and given an unsecured bond of $1,000. His court appearance in Lexington is scheduled for later in January.

Per North Carolina General Statute 15A-532, the release conditions for defendants are determined by judicial officials rather than law enforcement. The sheriff’s office noted that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
