Davidson County, NC – A routine traffic stop in Davidson County Saturday resulted in drug-related charges against a 25-year-old man, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies with the Patrol Division stopped a 2011 Ford Focus on Lorl Lane on Saturday, January 3, 2026, for a traffic violation. During the stop, deputies allegedly discovered methamphetamine and fentanyl in the possession of the driver.

The driver, identified as Christian Adolphus Schweikert, 25, was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (fentanyl), possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, officials said.

In addition to the drug charges, Schweikert also received citations for driving without an operator’s license and displaying an expired registration plate, according to authorities.

Schweikert was taken before a magistrate, where he received a $1,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court later this month in January 2026.

Officials noted that under North Carolina General Statute 15A-532, judicial officials — not law enforcement — determine bond conditions and release decisions for individuals involved in judicial proceedings.

All charges are allegations at this stage. Schweikert is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to address illegal drug activity and maintain public safety across the county.
