Lexington, NC – An 18-year-old North Carolina woman is in custody after authorities say she allegedly planned a mass-casualty attack targeting a synagogue in Texas, prompting a joint investigation involving federal and local law enforcement.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI’s Charlotte Field Office received information on April 21, 2026, that Angelina Han Hicks, of Lexington, North Carolina, was allegedly targeting members of the Jewish community for a potential act of violence. Investigators say agents and deputies quickly launched an inquiry into the threats.

Authorities executed a search at Hicks’ residence on Linwood Southmont Road in Lexington, where evidence was reportedly recovered indicating she and unidentified co-conspirators were planning an attack at Congregation Beth Israel in Houston, Texas.

On Tuesday, April 22, Hicks was arrested by Davidson County Sheriff’s Office detectives and charged with felony conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon to kill or inflict serious injury, as well as felony conspiracy to commit murder. She was transported to the Davidson County Magistrate’s Office, where a judge set bond at $10 million.

Hicks is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on May 12, 2026, and is currently being held at the Davidson County Detention Center. Authorities emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Officials say additional alleged co-conspirators have been identified outside North Carolina, and the FBI continues to lead the broader investigation. Due to the ongoing nature of the case, limited details have been released.
