Lexington, NC – Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office say a two-year investigation led to the arrest of a former employee accused of embezzling more than $225,000 from a Clemmons-based business.

According to the sheriff’s office, the case began in February 2025 when investigators opened an embezzlement probe involving JRM, Inc., located at 8491 N NC Hwy. 150 in Clemmons. Detectives determined that beginning in early 2023, Daniel McAlpine, a former employee, allegedly sold company merchandise and redirected payments to himself through a PayPal account.

Investigators say McAlpine also manipulated JRM’s computerized billing and inventory system. The total loss to the company was estimated at $225,821.14. Arrest warrants were issued, charging McAlpine with embezzlement exceeding $100,000 and computer trespassing.

On October 14, 2025, deputies from the Davie County Sheriff’s Office arrested McAlpine at a residence in Davie County. During the arrest, deputies also charged him with resisting, obstructing, and delaying law enforcement.

McAlpine was booked into the Davie County Detention Center under a $18,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on November 10, 2025.

Officials noted that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
