Davenport, Iowa – A tornado packing 120 mph winds ripped through Scott County Friday evening, carving a 7.6-mile path from Blue Grass to the west side of Davenport and damaging homes, vehicles, and trees in its wake.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, the EF-2 tornado touched down at 5:03 p.m. CDT on July 11 and was on the ground for 10 minutes. Survey teams confirmed the storm snapped or uprooted multiple large trees and caused serious damage at an RV sales business and nearby neighborhoods just north of I-280.

Emergency officials say at least 15 RVs were overturned or destroyed, some tossed up to 15 feet. The twister also impacted areas near Emeis Golf Course and several residential blocks on the city’s west side.

No injuries or fatalities were reported, thanks to early warnings and local preparedness efforts. Still, residents are urged to stay alert through the weekend as cleanup continues and more storms remain possible in eastern Iowa.

Warnings remain in effect for the region with more updates expected through Sunday evening.
