Davenport, Iowa – Tuesday could start wet for residents across eastern Iowa, with rain expected to hit before midday and temperatures warming fast by week’s end. The National Weather Service warns of a 60% chance of showers Tuesday morning, with winds up to 10 mph and afternoon highs near 68°F.
According to the NWS Quad Cities office, the rain is expected to fall mainly before 1 p.m. Tuesday. Roads like U.S. Route 61 and I-280 could become slick during the morning commute. Motorists should allow extra time and drive cautiously in areas with reduced visibility or wet pavement.
Showers will taper off by early evening Tuesday, giving way to clearing skies and a stretch of warmer, mostly dry weather. Wednesday brings a smaller 40% chance of early showers before skies turn partly sunny and highs reach 67°F. By Thursday, conditions improve significantly: mostly sunny skies with a high of 72°F and light winds.
Friday marks a notable summer preview with sunny skies and highs pushing 81°F—making it the warmest day of the week so far. The weekend continues the upward trend, with Saturday peaking near 82°F and Sunday reaching the upper 80s under mostly clear skies.
While Tuesday morning may start on a soggy note, eastern Iowa should prepare for a sunny, summerlike stretch. Rain gear is recommended through Wednesday, but sunglasses and sunscreen will take over by Thursday.
