Davenport, Iowa – A couple of fast-moving winter systems will bring light snow and flurries to parts of the Quad Cities through midweek, but impacts are expected to remain minor as 2025 comes to a close.
Overnight lows will drop sharply tonight, bottoming out between 5 and 15 degrees across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. Wind chills will fall to between 0 and -10 degrees, making it feel bitterly cold for anyone outdoors. According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, a weak disturbance Tuesday could produce light snow, mainly north and east of Davenport, with most locations picking up less than an inch.
Another round of light snow or flurries is possible Wednesday, again favoring northwest Illinois and areas north of Interstate 80. Accumulations with both systems are expected to stay light, generally under one inch, limiting travel impacts. Even so, untreated roads and sidewalks could become slick during early morning and evening hours as temperatures remain below freezing.
Daytime highs Tuesday and Wednesday will range from the upper 20s to near 30 degrees, with overnight lows dipping into the teens. According to forecasters, conditions improve quickly heading into New Year’s Day, with dry weather and seasonable temperatures expected to kick off 2026.
Thursday and Friday look quiet, with highs climbing into the mid-20s to mid-30s and no significant precipitation expected. Residents are advised to dress warmly during the cold mornings, allow extra travel time during brief snow periods, and remain alert for slick spots, especially during overnight hours.
Overall, the Quad Cities will see a cold but manageable end to the year, followed by a calm and seasonable start to the new one.
