DAVENPORT, Iowa – A slow-moving cold front is pushing through eastern Iowa and western Illinois tonight, bringing rounds of rain and a few thunderstorms before much cooler air settles in by morning. Drivers could encounter slick roads late tonight as rain spreads east into Illinois and Missouri.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, temperatures will fall into the mid-40s to mid-50s overnight as the front moves through. Skies will begin to clear Tuesday, with highs ranging from the mid-60s to near 70 under decreasing clouds and a steady north wind.
By midweek, sunshine returns across the region with light northeast breezes and daytime highs in the upper 60s. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 30s and low 40s in rural areas, marking one of the coolest nights of the fall so far.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items and prepare for the cooler nights ahead. No additional storm systems are expected through the end of the week.
