Davenport, Iowa – A warming trend will push highs into the 50s this weekend along the I-80 corridor, with some areas possibly nearing 60 degrees by midweek next week.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, above-normal temperatures will continue through the weekend across eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Plenty of sunshine is expected over the next several days, with only low precipitation chances.

Highs Wednesday will range from 43 to 50 degrees, followed by 46 to 51 degrees Thursday. A 10 to 30 percent chance of precipitation exists Thursday and again late Saturday into early Sunday. Forecasters note a rain/snow mix is possible Thursday, but ground temperatures remain too warm for significant snow accumulation or travel impacts.

Friday will remain mostly sunny, with highs between 49 and 56 degrees. Temperatures will continue climbing Saturday and Sunday, reaching the low to upper 50s across Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, and Clinton.

Drivers along Interstate 80 from Davenport to Iowa City, Interstate 74 through Moline and Galesburg, Interstate 280 around the Quad Cities, and U.S. Route 61 near Burlington should expect mainly dry pavement conditions through the period.

By midweek next week, highs could approach or exceed 60 degrees in parts of the region if the warming trend continues.

Commuters, students, and agricultural interests may notice improved outdoor conditions compared to recent colder stretches.
