Davenport, Iowa – A sharp drop in temperatures is ushering in a taste of fall across the Quad Cities region, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s tonight and even colder air expected by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, rain showers will clear out by 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by breezy northwest winds and rapidly cooling skies. Thursday morning will start with lows in the mid-40s, a sharp contrast to last week’s summer warmth. Afternoon highs will remain seasonably cool in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Areas like Rock Island, Moline, and Bettendorf can expect breezy conditions Thursday and Friday, with wind gusts up to 20 mph. Thursday night brings another round of chilly lows between 42–47°F, and Saturday night could dip as low as 38°F in rural areas.

Drivers should be prepared for potentially foggy or smoky conditions during morning commutes. Residents are advised to close windows overnight and keep pets indoors due to the significant overnight temperature drop.

Pleasant and dry weather is expected through the weekend, but another update will be issued if conditions change.
