Davenport, Iowa – A blast of fall air is on the way for the Quad Cities as a strong cold front pushes through tonight, dropping temperatures and kicking up winds that could gust to 40 mph. Light showers are possible, mainly north of Interstate 80, but the bigger story will be the unseasonably cool air settling in for the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, temperatures tonight will fall into the upper 40s to mid-50s as breezy to windy conditions develop. Friday will stay cooler, with highs topping out between 62 and 70 degrees under partly sunny skies. Another chilly night follows with lows sinking into the lower 40s.
Residents across Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, and Moline should prepare for noticeably cooler mornings and breezy afternoons. Farmers and outdoor workers may want to layer up, and drivers should use caution on highways when winds peak overnight.
Saturday will remain on the cooler side, with highs in the mid-60s to low 70s before another crisp night in the low to mid-40s.
Cool and breezy conditions are expected to continue through the weekend, with little sign of warmth returning until next week.
