Davenport, Iowa – A mild and quiet start to the week across the Quad Cities will give way to colder, windier conditions and light snow chances by the middle to latter part of the week.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, temperatures will gradually warm through Monday and Tuesday, with generally dry conditions in place early. Overnight lows tonight are expected to fall between 25 and 29 degrees, followed by Monday highs in the 40s, ranging from 40 to 48 degrees, under partly to mostly cloudy skies.
The warmest day of the week is expected on Tuesday, when highs in Davenport climb to around 46 to 56 degrees. Southwest winds will become breezy, contributing to the milder feel and signaling an approaching weather change.
That shift arrives on Wednesday, as a clipper system drops south from the north, bringing windy conditions and a chance for light snow showers. High temperatures will fall sharply, only reaching the upper 20s to upper 30s, with overnight lows dipping to between 11 and 16 degrees. While snowfall amounts appear light at this time, brief slick spots could develop, especially during periods of stronger wind.
Colder air lingers into Thursday, when highs are forecast to stay between 26 and 32 degrees. Another chance for light snow may develop late in the day or overnight as temperatures remain well below early-week levels.
No winter weather advisories have been issued so far, but the rapid temperature change may be noticeable for commuters, students, and outdoor workers adjusting from mild afternoons back to winter cold.
