Davenport, Iowa — A prolonged stretch of cold weather will settle into the Quad Cities area, with light snow possible tonight and the coldest temperatures arriving this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, temperatures today will range from 25 to 33 degrees, with increasing clouds. Light snow is possible tonight, and forecasters say up to 1 inch of accumulation could occur in parts of the Davenport area. Overnight lows tonight are expected to fall between 23 and 29 degrees.
Friday brings slightly milder conditions, with highs reaching 33 to 40 degrees, but colder air will follow quickly. Friday night lows are forecast to drop into the 6 to 14 degree range, setting the stage for a sharp cooldown.
The coldest day is expected Saturday, with highs only 12 to 18 degrees. Temperatures will continue falling Saturday night, with overnight lows between 0 and 6 degrees, marking the coldest period of this stretch.
While snowfall amounts are expected to remain light, the National Weather Service cautioned that slick spots may develop, especially overnight and during early morning hours when temperatures are lowest.
Residents are advised to dress in layers, limit prolonged outdoor exposure during the weekend, and use caution on untreated roads if light snow develops.
This forecast is especially relevant for morning commuters, students, and weekend travelers, as cold conditions may persist through early next week.
