Davenport, IA – Two students were arrested Wednesday at Davenport West High School after police discovered firearms in their possession.
At 9:14 a.m., officers executed a search warrant related to an ongoing investigation. They removed two students from their classrooms. According to Davenport Police, officers located a firearm inside each student’s backpack during the search.
A 17-year-old was charged with carrying weapons on school grounds. A 15-year-old was charged with the same offense, along with additional charges of dominion or control of a firearm, possession of a weapon by a felon, and interference with official acts.
The Davenport Police Department worked with Davenport Community School District officials to ensure the safety of students and staff. Despite the arrests, the school day continued without disruption.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released.
