The incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. on October 23, 2025, as the officer was traveling eastbound on West Locust Street with lights and siren activated. Authorities said the officer attempted to turn right from West Locust onto Division Street when a white SUV, also heading east, entered the intersection.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicles collided at a low rate of speed, causing functional damage to both but resulting in no reported injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
