Darlington, SC – A Darlington County man was arrested Saturday after allegedly barricading himself inside a Hartsville-area home during a domestic incident, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 2500 block of Highline Street on November 9, 2025, after receiving reports of a domestic dispute. According to Sheriff Tony August, officers learned the suspect had access to a rifle and refused multiple orders to exit the residence.

The Special Incident Response Team (SIRT) — a joint unit of Darlington County Deputies and Hartsville City Police — arrived on scene and attempted several times to negotiate with the suspect. When he continued to refuse, the team used less-lethal force to safely remove him from the residence.

Authorities identified the suspect as Bradford Capell, who allegedly had active warrants for Domestic Violence 3rd Degree. Following his arrest, Capell was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.

Capell is charged with Domestic Violence 2nd Degree and Domestic Violence 3rd Degree and remains in custody awaiting a bond hearing.

The Sheriff’s Office said this is an active investigation, and no further details have been released.
