Darlington, SC – A Darlington County man is in custody following a violent home assault earlier this month that allegedly involved a taser and stolen firearm.
According to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence on Mayford Road in the Hartsville area on September 6 after reports of an aggravated assault. Investigators determined that the suspect, identified as Malcolm Dukes, trespassed at the victim’s residence before allegedly attacking them with a taser inside the home.
During the altercation, Dukes allegedly seized the victim’s firearm and pointed it at them, threatening to kill the victim if they called for help. When another person attempted to intervene, Dukes reportedly shoved them down before fleeing the scene.
On September 18, deputies arrested Dukes, charging him with Armed Robbery, Assault & Battery of a High & Aggravated Nature, Pointing & Presenting a Weapon at a Person, and Assault & Battery 3rd Degree.
A Darlington County Magistrate set Dukes’ bond at $96,087.50 on September 19. He is currently being held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
