Darke County, OH – A two-vehicle crash early Monday morning led to a police pursuit and a serious injury in Darke County, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called around 7:43 a.m. on November 3, 2025, to the 3600 block of Childrens Home-Bradford Road after a gold Ford Explorer reportedly left the roadway and struck a silver Honda driven by Jose Matamoros, 50, of Greenville.
Following the crash, Matamoros allegedly pursued the Ford Explorer, which continued through several intersections before deputies located it near State Route 118 and Horatio-Harris Creek Road, with corn stalks lodged underneath.
According to investigators, deputies attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, leading to a three-mile pursuit. The Explorer eventually exited the road again and crashed into a cornfield off State Route 118. The driver, identified as Joshua Allen, 39, of Union City, allegedly continued through the field before colliding with an embankment.
Emergency crews from Ansonia Fire Department, Ansonia Rescue, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and CareFlight responded. Allen was transported to Miami Valley Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active and ongoing.
