Darke County, OH: Motorcycle vs. Deer Crash Injures Greenville Rider on SR 502

Greenville, OH – A Greenville man was hospitalized after colliding with a deer while riding his motorcycle on State Route 502 late Saturday night.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and crews from Greenville Township Fire and Rescue, Greenville City Fire, and Greenville Police responded to the 4200 block of State Route 502 at approximately 10:09 p.m. on October 1. Officials said the crash involved a single motorcycle.

Investigators reported that Perry Rapier, 42, of Greenville, was traveling west on State Route 502 on a black 2010 Harley Davidson when a deer entered the roadway. Rapier collided with the animal and veered off the left side of the road, laying the motorcycle down in a ditch.

Rapier was transported to Wayne Hospital, where he was treated for minor, non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
