Greenville, OH – A motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital early Sunday morning following a crash on Hillgrove-Southern Road in Darke County, according to a release from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies reported that at approximately 3:10 a.m. on October 26, 2025, emergency crews from Union City Police, Fire, and Rescue responded to the 8300 block of Hillgrove-Southern Road for a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.
The investigation revealed that Joshua Baker, 35, of Ansonia, was traveling south on a Gray 2002 Honda Shadow Motorcycle when a deer reportedly entered his path. Baker allegedly made an abrupt maneuver to avoid the animal, lost control of the motorcycle, and crashed.
Baker was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the accident remains under investigation.
