Darke County, OH – A two-vehicle crash in Darke County sent one person to the hospital Monday afternoon after a collision at a busy Greenville intersection.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 2:50 p.m. on January 12 to the intersection of US Route 36 and Jaysville–St. John’s Road. Greenville Police, City Fire, and Township Fire and Rescue crews also assisted at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed a black Ford Explorer, driven by Lianne Schmitz, 38, of Greenville, was heading westbound on US 36 when it collided with a gray Toyota Camry driven by Richard Cobbihan, 42, of Fairfield. Authorities said Cobbihan had been stopped at the southbound stop sign on Jaysville–St. John’s Road and allegedly pulled into the intersection without yielding the right of way.

Schmitz was transported to Wayne HealthCare for treatment of minor injuries. Cobbihan was uninjured, according to deputies.

No citations or further updates were immediately released. The crash remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
