Darke County, OH – A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 127 sent one driver to the hospital Thursday afternoon, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred around 2:52 p.m. in the 14,300 block of US 127, north of Ansonia.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 2023 red and tan Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer driven by Devin Schoenlein, 21, of Coldwater, was traveling northbound and slowing in traffic when it was struck from behind by a 1999 white Volvo feed truck. The second vehicle was driven by Mitchell Regedanz, 20, of Celina.
Deputies say Regedanz was transported to Mercer Health Hospital for minor injuries, while Schoenlein was not hurt. North Star Fire and Ansonia Rescue also responded to assist at the scene.
Authorities have not indicated if citations were issued, and traffic on US 127 was briefly slowed as crews cleared the roadway.
Drivers in the area are urged to remain alert and allow extra following distance in stop-and-go traffic.
