Darke County, OH – A 17-year-old Greenville driver was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a rollover on State Route 571 East, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 1:35 p.m. on November 4, 2025, to the 9200 block of Route 571 East along with Greenville Rescue and Laura Fire crews. Initial reports indicated a two-vehicle incident, but deputies discovered only one SUV involved.
Investigators said a 2022 Blue Chevy Trailblazer driven by Jesse Hootman, 17, of Greenville, was traveling northwest when an oncoming vehicle allegedly crossed the center line. Hootman swerved to avoid it, left the roadway, struck a ditch and tree, and overturned.
Hootman was taken to Wayne Hospital with suspected injuries. The other vehicle reportedly continued without stopping.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active.
