Danville Police Arrest Man on Cannabis and Firearm Charges Following Traffic Stop

Danville, IL – A traffic stop Wednesday evening led to the arrest of a 24-year-old Danville man on multiple charges. Officers stopped a vehicle near N. Bowman Avenue and Madison Street at 5:15 p.m. for a registration violation.

Police identified the driver as Levi Applegate. During the stop, officers reportedly uncovered illegal cannabis, between 10 and 30 grams, alongside a firearm.

Applegate was arrested and taken to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building. Authorities charged him with illegal possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

The Danville Police Department reminded the public that all arrested individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
