Danville, IL – Residents in Danville may notice an increased police presence this afternoon as the city’s Emergency Response Unit (ERU) conducts training exercises across multiple locations. The drills are scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025, between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

According to the Danville Police Department, the training is part of ongoing efforts to improve readiness, preparedness, and overall community safety. During the four-hour period, residents and businesses should expect to see more officers on the streets, specialized police vehicles, and other activity related to the exercises.

Officials emphasized there is no cause for alarm. Police confirmed the training is not in response to any specific incident but rather a routine measure to keep the Emergency Response Unit highly prepared to handle critical situations.

“Residents may notice an increased police presence, the use of specialized vehicles, and other training-related activities,” the department stated in a release. “These exercises are designed solely to ensure readiness and community protection.”

The department also thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation while training is underway. Police say exercises like this are key to ensuring quick and effective responses when emergencies occur.
