Danville, IL – A Chicago man wanted on a first-degree murder warrant was arrested Friday afternoon in Danville following a brief foot chase, according to the Danville Police Department.

Police say the incident occurred around 12:48 p.m. on December 8, when officers with the department’s Problem Oriented Policing (P.O.P.) Unit recognized a 30-year-old male suspect during patrol. The man was reportedly wanted in connection with the November 29 fatal shooting at Scooters Bar in Danville.

According to authorities, the suspect—identified in official police releases as being wanted for First-Degree Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon—attempted to flee on foot after officers approached him. Following a short pursuit lasting roughly five minutes, police say he was apprehended without further incident near a nearby tree line.

Officers also noted the man was wanted on a separate parole violation warrant through the Illinois Department of Corrections. After being taken into custody, he was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing.

The Danville Police Department continues to investigate the case and is urging anyone with additional information to contact Crime Stoppers at (217) 446-TIPS. Anonymous tips may be eligible for a cash reward.
