Milwaukee, Wis. — Southern Wisconsin is expected to see another round of winter weather impacts today and tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.
Forecasts call for 1 to 2 inches of snowfall this afternoon and evening across all of southern Wisconsin, which is expected to result in snow-covered roads. After the snow ends, wind gusts of 35 to 40 miles per hour are anticipated, creating the potential for blowing and drifting snow overnight into Monday.
In addition to snowfall, dangerously cold wind chills are expected tonight through late Monday morning. Wind chill values are forecast to range from -20 to -30 degrees, with the coldest conditions expected between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday. Gusty winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour will continue through this period, increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. tonight until noon Monday. Wind chills are expected to improve slightly Monday afternoon but will remain very cold, generally between -10 and -20 degrees, before continuing into Tuesday morning.
Residents are urged to bring pets indoors, cover exposed skin, and check on elderly friends, neighbors, and relatives during the coldest period.
