State College, PA – Freezing rain and sleet will continue across central Pennsylvania through Friday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon Thursday, with additional storms expected over the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Thursday’s precipitation will include snow, sleet, and freezing rain before transitioning to rain by the afternoon. Winds up to 25 mph could cause power outages as ice accumulates on tree limbs and power lines. Travelers should expect slippery roads, especially on I-99 and Route 322.
Friday brings a brief break with partly cloudy skies and highs near 33°F, but another storm is expected Saturday, bringing a mix of snow and freezing rain. By Saturday night, precipitation is forecast to turn entirely into snow, impacting travel into Sunday morning.
Temperatures will gradually rise into the mid-30s by Sunday, with partly sunny skies providing some relief before more snow arrives early next week.
Motorists should check road conditions before traveling and allow extra time for commutes. Stay updated by visiting weather.gov/StateCollege for the latest advisories.
