St. Louis, MO – Severe thunderstorms are forecasted to sweep through northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, the storms will begin between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., bringing potential hazards including damaging winds up to 60 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter. The primary threat from these storms is the high winds, which can cause significant damage to trees, power lines, and structures.
As the storms move southeast, they are expected to weaken during the early overnight hours. However, the best chance for significant rainfall and severe weather remains in northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois. These areas should prepare for the possibility of heavy rain and localized flooding.
