Dallas, TX – Wind gusts up to 30 mph are sweeping across North Texas late Sunday morning, creating crosswind concerns for drivers along Interstate 35E, Interstate 20 and Interstate 30 through 6 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, northwest winds will continue gusting between 25 and 30 mph through the afternoon as skies gradually turn partly cloudy. High temperatures will climb into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Sherman, Paris and Waco before winds ease after sunset.
The strongest gusts are expected along and west of the I-35 corridor, including Fort Worth, Denton and areas near Bowie and Graham. Elevated roadways and open stretches of I-20 and I-30 may see sudden crosswinds capable of pushing high-profile vehicles out of their lanes. Drivers of semis, box trucks and RVs should maintain a firm grip on the wheel and allow extra space between vehicles.
Conditions turn calmer overnight, but patchy fog could develop after midnight into early Monday morning, especially in low-lying areas east of I-35 near Canton and Palestine. Visibility may briefly dip below one mile before sunrise Monday.
Looking ahead, above-normal temperatures in the 70s will persist through midweek. An elevated fire weather threat is expected Tuesday through Thursday, particularly near and west of I-35, where dry air and breezy conditions could increase wildfire risk. Additional advisories may be issued as that threat develops.
