Dallas-Fort Worth, TX – Sweltering heat will grip the region today, with temperatures soaring near 100°F and heat index values as high as 107°F. Residents should take precautions against heat-related illnesses by staying indoors during peak hours and drinking plenty of water. A heat advisory remains in effect for much of North Texas through Saturday.
Relief is on the way as a cold front is expected to move into the Dallas-Fort Worth area Sunday night. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), scattered thunderstorms could accompany the front, with a 30% chance of rain extending into Monday morning. Temperatures are forecast to drop to the low 80s by Monday, providing much-needed relief after days of extreme heat.
The storm chances will persist into midweek, with rain continuing into Wednesday as the front stalls over the region. Until then, officials are urging the public to remain vigilant in the heat. Avoid outdoor activities today and tomorrow, especially along major roadways like I-35 and I-20, as the heat can affect both drivers and pedestrians.
