DALLAS, Texas – A strong late-August cold front will push across North and Central Texas early next week, sending high temperatures tumbling into the 80s with scattered storms possible by Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, highs that typically run near the mid-90s this time of year will instead struggle to reach the low 90s Monday before dipping into the mid-80s to around 90 through Wednesday. Lows will fall into the upper 60s and low 70s across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and into the Waco-Temple-Killeen region.
The front will also trigger returning rain chances, with the greatest likelihood Tuesday and Wednesday when coverage could reach 40 to 60 percent in some areas. Showers and storms may produce brief downpours but should remain scattered.
Drivers in Dallas, Fort Worth, and along I-35 toward Waco should be prepared for wet commutes midweek. Residents are encouraged to keep outdoor plans flexible, check for lightning before heading outside, and stay weather-aware as storms may linger through Thursday.
Cooler-than-normal conditions may hold through next weekend, with additional chances for showers not ruled out.
