Dallas, Texas – Central Texans could see scattered thunderstorms Friday afternoon, bringing gusty winds and lightning hazards before a quieter, hotter weekend sets in. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said areas between Waco and Killeen face the greatest chance of storms, with a 20% to 40% likelihood, while cities to the north, including Dallas–Fort Worth and Sherman, have closer to a 10% risk. Highs will remain in the low to mid-90s across the region.
According to the Weather Service, storms may bring brief heavy rain and erratic wind gusts, creating dangerous conditions for boaters and anyone outdoors. Lightning will be the main hazard late Friday, especially during evening hours. Residents are urged to move indoors quickly when thunder is heard.
Saturday and Sunday will be quieter, with mostly sunny skies and seasonably hot weather. Temperatures will hold in the mid-90s for most of North and Central Texas, with only an isolated storm chance Saturday in the south.
Cooler air arrives early next week, dropping highs into the 80s by Monday. Daily storm chances return as well, though forecasters emphasize it won’t be a washout.
