Dallas, Texas – North and Central Texas will see another round of typical summer heat Thursday and Friday, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible south of the Metroplex before drier, calmer weather arrives this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, highs will stay in the low to mid-90s both days, but areas from Waco to Killeen and Palestine could see pop-up storms bringing gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. The Dallas-Fort Worth area may only catch an isolated storm Thursday before returning to sunshine Friday.
Drivers in Central Texas should prepare for brief downpours and limited visibility, particularly on I-35 from Waco south through Killeen. Outdoor plans may be disrupted by lightning, so officials urge caution at lakes and sporting events.
The weekend will turn dry across the region with highs in the upper 90s, but relief is on the horizon. By Tuesday, a cold front could drop highs into the 80s in parts of North Texas, with scattered storm chances returning.
Residents should continue to monitor updates as new advisories could be issued early next week.
