Fort Worth, Texas – A sharp cold front will sweep through North and Central Texas this weekend, dropping temperatures and ramping up storm chances, especially Sunday into Monday. Highs will settle into the 70s and low 80s, a noticeable dip for early September.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread late Saturday, with the highest rain chances Sunday when coverage could reach 60 to 70 percent across the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Central Texas. Scattered activity is expected to linger into early next week.
Dallas and Fort Worth will see highs around 78 to 79 degrees Sunday and Monday, while Waco, Temple, and Killeen dip into the lower 80s with storms possible both days. Farther north, Sherman and Denison may struggle to break the mid-70s Sunday before warming slightly by Tuesday.
Drivers should prepare for slick roads during heavier downpours and allow extra travel time, especially along I-35 from Waco through Denton. Residents are urged to keep devices charged in case of power outages from strong storms. Outdoor plans may be disrupted, with lightning and heavy rain the main hazards.
Storm chances taper to 30 to 40 percent by Tuesday, though more updates could follow if tropical moisture lingers.
