FORT WORTH, TX – Clear skies and calm air greet early risers across North Texas today — the kind that feels more like early fall than mid-December. But don’t be fooled by the sunshine. A cold front is on the way, and by Saturday morning, temperatures will have dropped more than 30 degrees across the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, highs will stay in the mid to upper 60s through Friday, with light south winds and mostly sunny skies. It’s comfortable now, but a notable chill moves in Friday night, bringing lows in the low to mid-30s and highs in the 40s by Sunday.
While no rain or snow is expected, the sharp temperature drop could catch travelers off guard — especially those heading north toward Oklahoma or across I-35 for weekend plans. Patchy frost is possible in outlying areas, and early risers Saturday may notice a thin glaze on windshields or grass.
Meteorologists note this cool spell marks a pattern shift across the southern U.S., tied to the same Arctic system bringing heavy snow and frigid air across the Great Lakes and Midwest through next week.
