Fort Worth, Texas – A wet Saturday is unfolding across Central Texas as morning rain transitions to scattered showers and isolated storms this afternoon. Gusty winds and bursts of heavy rainfall remain the main concerns, though no severe weather is expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, rain coverage will be highest east of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, stretching from Canton to Palestine, where chances range from 50 to 70 percent. Areas west, including Waco, Killeen, and Cisco, have a lower but still notable 20 to 40 percent chance of storms.

Localized heavy downpours may cause brief ponding on roads, particularly in low-lying areas. Drivers should allow extra time on interstates including I-35 through Waco and I-20 near Canton. Gusty winds could also make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles. Lightning will be isolated but remains a hazard for anyone outdoors this afternoon.

Afternoon temperatures will stay cooler than average, topping out in the 70s and 80s under cloud cover. Conditions are expected to gradually improve tonight, though additional showers cannot be ruled out.

Rain chances may return early next week as unsettled weather lingers across Central Texas.
