Fort Worth, TX– Holiday travelers across North Texas should prepare for a wet and sharply colder Thanksgiving weekend as a strong storm system brings several rounds of rain followed by a powerful cold front starting Friday. Roads could be slick and visibility reduced for those returning home through Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, rain chances climb to 70% by Saturday with rainfall totals between 1 to 3 inches possible across Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, and Sherman. The front pushes through Saturday evening, driving temperatures from the low 70s into the 40s and even 30s by Sunday night. Morning lows could dip into the upper 20s early next week.
In Dallas-Fort Worth, expect highs near 60 on Friday before dropping to 47 by Monday. Waco and Temple will peak in the low 70s Saturday before tumbling into the 40s Sunday. Sherman and Denison will see the most dramatic drop, from 64 on Saturday to just 43 on Monday.
Drivers are urged to slow down on wet roads and avoid flooded low-water crossings. Charge devices and prepare for cold mornings as wind chills could fall into the 20s by early Monday.
Rain chances taper Sunday, but a chill lingers through Tuesday. More advisories may follow if freezing temps threaten power or travel next week.
