Dallas, Texas – Drivers across North Texas could face sudden downpours and lightning delays by Wednesday night as a volatile weather pattern ramps up across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected from Wednesday through Saturday, with the most active periods setting up Wednesday night into early Thursday and again Friday night into early Saturday. A few storms could turn strong to severe, especially during those overnight windows.
Across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, highs will climb to 87°F Wednesday before storms develop late, potentially impacting I-35, I-20, and surrounding commuter routes after sunset. In Central Texas, including Waco, Temple, and Killeen, temperatures near 89°F will fuel instability, raising the risk for stronger storm cells capable of gusty winds and frequent lightning.
Further north, Sherman and Denison will also see storm chances increase late Wednesday, with additional rounds possible Friday night. Residents should prepare for brief power disruptions and reduced visibility during heavier rain.
Charge devices, secure outdoor items, and avoid overnight travel during peak storm timing. Additional advisories may be issued as confidence increases, especially heading into Friday night’s stronger system.
