Dallas, Texas – Triple-digit heat will grip North Texas through Friday before a sharp cold front brings relief this weekend with cooler air and scattered rain.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, highs will push near 100 degrees Thursday and Friday across Dallas-Fort Worth, with a 20% chance of isolated storms Friday afternoon and evening. Areas west of I-35, including Mineral Wells and Graham, could briefly see stronger downpours.
Once the front pushes through late Friday night, temperatures will drop dramatically. Dallas-Fort Worth will see highs in the upper 70s Saturday and near 80 Sunday, a rare September break from lingering summer heat. Central Texas cities including Waco, Temple, and Killeen can expect highs in the low 80s with rain chances peaking at 60% Sunday. Farther north, Sherman and Denison will cool into the mid-70s by Saturday.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity through Friday, stay hydrated, and wear light clothing in the heat. By the weekend, prepare for occasional wet roads, especially along I-35, as rain showers may impact travel.
The cool spell will be brief, with warmer and drier weather returning by Tuesday.
