Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas – Hazardous travel conditions are expected across parts of North and Central Texas due to freezing fog and lingering ice, impacting major roadways including Interstate 35, I-20, and I-30.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, remnant ice, sleet, and snow on roadways will continue to cause travel issues through Tuesday morning. Forecasters note that freezing fog is possible across portions of the region this morning and again late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, potentially leading to light ice accumulation on roads, bridges, and elevated surfaces.
The National Weather Service reports that temperatures are expected to slowly climb above freezing later Tuesday, reaching the upper 30s to low 40s. This warming trend should lead to gradual improvement of road conditions during the afternoon and early evening hours, particularly across the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area.
However, officials warn that freezing fog may redevelop late tonight, especially in areas that experience clearing skies and lingering moisture. Light ice accumulations could occur, making early Wednesday travel hazardous near I-35, US-75, and surrounding highways.
A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of Central Texas through midmorning, with wind chills reported as low as 12 degrees. Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and use low-beam headlights when encountering fog.
This alert may be especially relevant for commuters, students, and early-morning workers traveling before sunrise.
Forecasters expect conditions to continue improving by midweek as temperatures rise into the 40s, reducing the risk of freezing precipitation. Residents are encouraged to monitor official updates from the National Weather Service Fort Worth for the latest road and weather information.
