Fort Worth, Texas – Severe storm chances will increase across North and Central Texas through Friday, with large hail and damaging winds possible.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth reports scattered storms developing this afternoon near a stalled front, with isolated strong to severe storms possible into the evening. Hail under 2 inches and wind gusts up to 60 mph are the primary threats. While the tornado risk remains low, it cannot be completely ruled out.
Storm chances continue Thursday, though most activity is expected to remain below severe limits. A few storms west of Interstate 35 could produce small hail and gusty winds during the late afternoon and evening.
The greater concern arrives Friday, when thunderstorm activity is expected to increase across much of the region. The highest severe potential is forecast along and north of U.S. Highway 380, including areas near Sherman and Paris. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be possible Friday afternoon into the evening hours.
Residents are urged to monitor forecast updates and ensure they have multiple ways to receive weather warnings.
For commuters and students attending after-school or evening events, conditions could change rapidly late this week.
