Dallas, Texas – North and Central Texas residents are facing another brutal stretch of extreme heat as a Heat Advisory remains in effect through Saturday evening, with parts of the region seeing “feels like” temperatures up to 109°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the advisory was extended Friday afternoon to cover most of the area through Saturday, though Montague, Cooke, Young, Jack, Wise, and Parker counties will only remain under the advisory until this evening due to slightly lower heat index values forecast for Saturday.

Daytime highs are expected between 93°F and 100°F, but high humidity will push the heat index into the dangerous 105°F to 109°F range across cities including Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, Killeen, Sherman, and Palestine. Outdoor workers, seniors, and those without air conditioning are especially at risk.

Texans are urged to:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat
  • Take breaks in the shade or air-conditioned spaces
  • Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles

The heat has already prompted increased emergency calls and power demand. Residents should monitor for signs of heat exhaustion and check on neighbors, particularly the elderly.

The advisory remains active until 7 p.m. Saturday, though additional warnings are possible if temperatures remain elevated into early next week.
