FORT WORTH, Texas — Spring-like warmth is expected to persist across North and Central Texas into the weekend, with highs running 15 to 20 degrees above normal and only limited rain chances late Sunday into Monday, according to the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.
In a Wednesday afternoon update, the agency said most locations should remain dry through the period, while Texoma and parts of East Texas could see a slight chance of rain between Sunday and Monday.
Forecast graphics posted by the Fort Worth office show Dallas-Fort Worth climbing to about 80 degrees Friday and near the mid-80s Saturday, holding in the low 80s Sunday before cooling into the mid-70s Monday. Overnight lows in the metro area were shown mainly in the mid- to upper 50s, with some spots near 60.
Farther north, the Sherman-Denison area was forecast to reach the mid-70s Friday and near 80 degrees Saturday and Sunday, then dip into the mid-60s Monday, with lows generally in the low to mid-50s.
Across Central Texas, the Waco-Temple-Killeen corridor was shown peaking in the low to mid-80s Friday through Sunday and easing to the upper 70s Monday, with overnight lows mainly in the mid- to upper 50s.
In East Texas, Palestine was forecast to reach the low to mid-80s through Sunday, with a 20% rain chance indicated Monday and highs near 80. Lows there were shown largely in the 50s.
For commuters and outdoor plans, the warm afternoons could increase weekend travel and park activity, while Monday’s cooler temperatures may be noticeable after several days in the 80s.
