Dallas, Texas – North and Central Texas are heading into a stretch of classic summer heat, with highs in the low to mid-90s and a heat index expected to climb as high as 105° in parts of East Texas by Sunday. Storm chances remain low, but anyone with outdoor plans should stay alert as pop-up showers are possible each day through the middle of next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, temperatures will hover near or just below normal through Wednesday, with heat index values between 97° and 102° for most of the region. Dallas-Fort Worth will see daytime highs climbing from 93° on Saturday to 97° by Wednesday, with overnight lows sticking in the upper 70s. Waco and Killeen will experience similar warmth, with daily highs in the low 90s and limited rain chances around 20 to 30%.
For drivers and residents in Sherman-Denison, prepare for heat to build from the mid-90s each afternoon and only a slight relief overnight. Though widespread storms aren’t expected, any shower could bring slick roads and brief downpours—especially for areas east of I-35.
Stay well hydrated, limit strenuous activities during peak afternoon hours, and keep an eye on local weather alerts. East Texas should be ready for even hotter conditions beginning Sunday, as the heat index pushes above 100°.
Heat advisories may be issued if conditions worsen. Next update expected by Monday morning.
