Dallas, Texas – Sweltering conditions will grip Dallas-Fort Worth and much of North Texas through Friday evening as a heat advisory remains in effect. Residents can expect heat index values reaching up to 108°, raising urgent concerns for those working or spending time outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the advisory covers most of north central and northeast Texas from 1 p.m. today through 7 p.m. Friday. The highest risk areas include Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin, and surrounding counties, where both the temperature and humidity will spike, pushing heat stress to dangerous levels.

Local emergency officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles. Streets, parks, and construction sites across Dallas, Plano, Arlington, and Rockwall will be especially hazardous during the hottest part of the afternoon. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent breaks in the shade and lighter clothing for anyone working outside. Signs of heat exhaustion—like dizziness, heavy sweating, or nausea—require immediate attention and, in severe cases, a call to 911.

The extreme heat is expected to last through Friday evening, with additional advisories possible if high temperatures persist into the weekend.
